What is ThermiTight and Who Is It For?

Early signs of aging can be frustrating: loose skin along the jawline and neck as well as areas of skin that start to sag. Mixed with hormonal changes, sun exposure, changes in weight, and our genetics, fighting the aging battle can always feel like a losing one. Luckily, with advanced technology, there are treatments that are designed to help improve skin laxity and pockets of fatty tissue. It’s a minimally invasive treatment called ThermiTight.

The scope of ThermiTight

ThermiTight is one of the best minimally invasive, non-surgical skin tightening techniques on the market today. ThermiTight uses radiofrequency energy to heat up the deeper layers of tissue using a very small catheter. This heating technique is what helps to naturally tighten sagging skin, causing the skin to contract and shrink. This works especially well in those noticeable areas like the lower face, jowls, and neck. It also can be used in more uncommon areas like the abdomen and the arms.

ThermiTight is known for its temperature-controlled capabilities that can safely help patients achieve a more youthful appearance without invasive surgery.

The thermal energy that ThermiTight emits helps the body to produce more collagen, a protein needed to build healthy tissue. It only takes one single treatment to start to notice firmer and restored youthful skin. This means quick results with little downtime and zero risk for complications.

In just three to four weeks you will notice an overall improved look of the tissue that will last up to five years or more! ThermiTight is great for individuals who have moderate skin laxity and want results without invasive surgery or downtime.

ThermiTight can reverse the signs of aging in areas including:

  • Neck
  • Jowls – double chin appearance
  • Upper arms
  • Breasts
  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Love handles
  • Thighs
  • Knees

The ThermiTight procedure

ThermiTight is performed in-office and, although most patients find the treatment tolerable and pain-free, it can be performed with local anesthesia for any discomfort. Your healthcare provider will then use a small wand-like cannula to create unnoticeable incisions to deliver the radiofrequency energy to the tissue below. Because it’s minimally invasive, there’s zero risk of scarring after the procedure. With a thermal imaging camera, your healthcare provider can carefully monitor the amount of thermal energy being emitted into the tissues. Once they hit the target therapeutic temperature, collagen production is activated and rejuvenation is maximized.

The wand is then passed back and forth like a fan creating an equal amount of energy bursts that help contract the muscle and skin. This melts small pockets of subdermal fat and increases collagen production within the skin.

Each patient’s procedure can take up to an hour depending on the location and the laxity of the skin in that area. Also, most patients are able to return to their regular schedule immediately after the treatment.

Am I the right candidate for ThermiTight?

ThermiTight can be a great option for most patients, especially for those looking to smooth sagging skin on the neck and the face. It is a great alternative to the lengthy recovery of invasive surgery and the costs that come with that kind of commitment.

Ideally, the individual would be a nonsmoker that’s in relatively good health.

Your healthcare provider will set up a consultation to assess your skin and answer any questions you may have about the procedure. However, for those who suffer from severe laxity, surgery may be required.

Talk to your healthcare provider about a plan for you and your needs for the results you desire.

The recovery process

ThermiTight is considered safe for all skin and types. It causes very minimal discomfort and has an extremely low risk for serious complications or side effects.

Because ThermiTight is minimally invasive, the downtime is zero to minimal. Some healthcare providers require a surgical garment for healing in the first 24 to 48 hours. This is to also help ensure optimal results.

Side effects you may experience post-treatment could be:

  • Bruising
  • Tender to the touch
  • Drainage
  • Mild swelling
  • Soreness

These side effects normally last only a few days after treatment and most patients are able to go back to their regular routines. Some doctors explain that drainage from the incision site is totally normal. It’s important to change any dressings every four to six hours while the draining is occurring. Wash the sites with soap and water. It should subside within 72 hours.

Although the procedure has minimal downtown in comparison to surgery, it’s still best to take it easy after your ThermiTight treatment. It’s recommended that there be only mild activity in the first 12 hours after the procedure. This is to help prevent long-lasting soreness and swelling. For swelling, apply ice for two hours after your treatment in 20-minute increments.

Treatment results

Results from ThermiTight normally don’t take long to notice. Some patients noticed smoother and fewer facial lines in a single session; however, more noticeable results can take anywhere from three to four weeks. The body will take time to increase the supply of collagen and tighten the tissues.

The results can continue to improve the skin up to 4 months after the treatment; ThermiTight has even been known to help benefit the skin and continue to improve up to a whole year. Results may vary per individual but those results will last up to five years or longer!
