Once your healthcare provider clears you for treatment, the procedure normally goes as follows: 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart for a total of 18 weeks. During the time before your treatment, your healthcare provider will talk about certain parts of the treatment and its process. Once the blood is drawn, typically through the arm, it is sent through a centrifugal process (a machine that spins the blood for about 10 minutes) which separates the liquid and solid components. At times, activators may be added like thrombin, collagen, and calcium. PRP is the solid component separated earlier from the blood and into three layers: platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma, and red blood cells.

From there, the treatment will resume by re-introducing the platelet-rich plasma drawn into the syringe and then injected directly into the affected areas of the scalp as small injections. Hair growth injections are sometimes combined with hair transplants for an even bigger result.
