NovaThreads: Looking and Staying Forever Young without Surgery

One of the greatest myths to looking and staying forever young without having to go under the knife and risk the development of potentially harmful complications has finally been debunked. NovaThreads is a revolutionary technology that combines all the wonderful features of biomedical advances and the unique ability of an innovatively novel substance to stimulate collagen production. The NovaThreads revolution is now readily available, provided by the expert, skillful, and caring hands of the professionals at Balshi Dermatology Delray Beach.
How NovaThreads is Applied
Since NovaThreads are essentially sutures that need to be injected into the skin, there are no incisions involved. You can think about it as a much-improved version of dermal fillers. At the Balshi Dermatology, a duly licensed practitioner will inject the PDO-loaded needle through your skin and target the tissues in between cells at the level just under the skin. The needle is carefully inserted to run parallel to your skin’s surface and gently pulls it out, leaving the polydioxanone NovaThreads inside. This serves as your skin’s scaffolding, pulling it tighter, and stimulating the skin tissues to “repair” themselves around the polydioxanone suture. Experts call this “controlled healing”.

A Closer Look at NovaThreads

These so-called miracle sutures are nothing new, really. NovaThreads are simply absorbable sutures that are made of polydioxanone or PDO. These sutures are inserted through the skin using hypodermic needles and are already made available as a system – needle and suture combined. These types of sutures are nothing new. In fact, these have been used in a variety of surgical procedures such as those involving the heart like open-heart surgery and other cardiothoracic surgical procedures. It is currently one of the world’s best and safest materials that can be implanted in the human body without necessarily eliciting any reaction from the body’s immune system.
Polydioxanone-embedded NovaThreads gets naturally absorbed by the skin within 4 to 6 months without leaving any visible signs like scar and fibroid tissues on the skin. Best of all, NovaThreads stimulate the body’s skin into producing more collagen, adding to the compact tissue that will help push inner tissues outward, giving you tauter and more radiant skin. Additionally, this increased collagen production will help hold the skin for up to 15 months.

Where NovaThreads Are Commonly Applied

NovaThreads are commonly applied on the skin of the lower third of the face including the jawline and the neck; although, it can actually be applied almost anywhere. Typically, it is used in conjunction with other dermal rejuvenation treatments such as Botox injections, usually on the upper third of the face, and dermal fillers on the middle third of the face. One thing we need to understand is that a normal, “healthy” face typically follows a “V” shape, meaning the muscles of the head generally pulls on the muscles and skin tissues of the lower parts.
However, with aging and a lot of other factors, most particularly gravity, this natural tendency of the head to pull on the lower parts diminishes leading to a loss in the normal “V” shape of the face. The idea behind NovaThreads is to provide a framework or scaffolding upon which the different tissues of the lower face are kept integral, retaining the normal, “healthy” “V” shape of the face. In many cases the polydioxanone sutures carefully lift the subdermal tissues and reposition them in a way to recreate the classic “V” shape.

Types of NovaThreads Procedures
There are essentially two ways in which NovaThreads can be applied, often depending on the type of skin problem that needs to be addressed.

NovaMesh

In this type of application, the polydioxanone sutures are inserted in such a way as to create a mesh under the skin. Typically, Balshi Dermatology professionals will insert three sutures horizontally and 2 sutures threaded vertically. Because of its mesh-like appearance, the NovaMesh allows for the more efficient production of collagen within and around the mesh. This results in a more natural skin appearance, leaving the skin tauter. At any rate, your friends will never know that you had NovaThreads applied into your skin.
NovaMesh is particularly indicated in the neck, the cheeks, and around the lips. At Balshi Dermatology, these are best performed using the EZ-Neck Mesh, the EZ-Cheek Mesh, and the EZ-Lip Fill procedures, respectively. The EZ-Neck NovaMesh is especially indicated for people with turkey neck problems, sagging of the skin of the chin, the appearance of chin lines, and uneven skin in the lateral and lower areas of the neck. Typically, this is done in combination with Botox treatments to immobilize the platysmal cords while also eliminating horizontal wrinkles. NovaThreads Smooth are used in this procedure.
The EZ-Cheek NovaMesh procedure is primarily intended to add volume to the cheeks, often in combination with dermal fillers that are usually injected far deeper in the skin. Balshi Dermatology Delray makes sure that the NovaMesh is placed just under the more superficial layers of the skin. The same procedure can be provided to patients who may have relatively thin skin in the cheek region or are not yet fully ready for a more definitive EZ-Cheek Lift procedure.
The EZ-Lips Fill NovaMesh procedure involves the threading of either of two types of NovaThreads – Smooth or Twist – depending on the amount of lip work that needs to be done. NovaThreads Smooth is typically indicated for minimal improvements or enhancements to the lip region while the Twist version of NovaThreads is exceptional for giving the lips more volume. Either way, you will be given an anesthetic cream if only to numb the areas that you will be injected on. EZ-Fill Lip typically takes around 15 minutes and will often last for about 3 months.

NovaLyft

For those individuals who may have more pronounced skin problems to the lower third of the face including the jawline and the neck regions, NovaLyft offers more immediate and more dramatic results. The polydioxanone sutures are specially designed to have cogs or barbs that function to anchor the suture when it is pulled in 1 (unidirectional) or even 2 (bidirectional) directions. This creates instant repositioning of the skin and is often used in the cheek, the jawline, the belly, and the buttocks. Give it time and new collagen will be produced to help secure the skin lift.
The Balshi Dermatology EZ-Neck NovaLyft typically targets the submental zone and the cleavage between breasts. It involves the use of bidirectional polydioxanone sutures to pull the skin towards the opposing exit points of the barbed sutures.
For the EZ-Jaw NovaLyft technique, unidirectional sutures are used to lift and reposition the skin. The general direction of the “pull” is always towards the needle entry point located higher in the jaw.
The EZ-Cheek NovaLyft procedure uses both unidirectional and bidirectional barbed sutures to reposition or even accumulate the skin and move it towards the center section of the area being treated. Additionally, the skin is spread towards the opposing ends of the suture. Removing the NovaThreads needle instantly creates a tunnel, albeit temporarily, allowing the barbed sutures to move.
