How Does it Work?
Our bodies have a natural healing process that reacts to injury by producing new collagen and elastin. SkinPen initiates this injury response through microneedling, a technique that creates hundreds of temporary micro-channels or openings in the skin without any thermal energy or skin removal. These channels are called fractionated injuries.
By creating a series of hundreds of vertical microscopic channels into the dermis (the top layer of your skin), SkinPen stimulates the natural production of new collagen and elastin, producing excellent skin rejuvenation results with little or no downtime.
The SkinPen uses 12 surgical-grade, stainless steel needles for deeper skin penetration and greater product efficacy. The lightweight and ergonomic design of the SkinPen in conjunction with the vertical delivery of the needles allows physicians/skin care providers to use the device to treat hard-to-reach places that other dermal rollers cannot. The SkinPen can specifically target delicate areas around the eyes, nose and mouth to safely stimulate collagen production.
SkinPen uses sterile, disposable needle cartridges that deliver multi-speed and adjustable depths to accommodate all skin types and needs. This specific combination of design and technology increases the effectiveness of treatments and reduces pain and patient downtime. Safety features of the SkinPen includes an exhaust port that prevents suction and reduces risk of broken capillaries, as well as Bio Sleeve technology that eliminates cross-contamination by preventing fluids from leaking beyond the microneedle cartridges.
Who Should Consider SkinPen Treatments?
One of the most exciting things about SkinPen is that it can be used on all skin types and colors to address a wide range of problems.
SkinPen should not be used in patients with history of keloid scars, scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases, cardiac abnormalities, hemorrhagic disorders, hemostatic dysfunction or an active bacterial or fungal infection.
SkinPen is not recommended for pregnant women because the fibrosis production of new collagen, stimulated by the treatment, requires utilization of vitamins and nutrients that should be reserved for the unborn child.
